Thanks to the Bloggers at the Library of Congress for reminding us of this fun "National" day.
If you too are motivated to improve your handwriting, we can recommend George Washington's Rules of Civility & Decent Behaviour in Company and Conversation. One summer we actually made our "roadies" write all 110 rules, just like Washington had to when he was young.
On another handwriting note, we also recommend all American artists register their Collection Portfolios with the Library of Congress and don't forget to always sign your artwork. All of Nick's art since his 2015 LoC registration are signed: L. Nicholas Smith and the Collection Portfolio symbol the art was issued from is painted by the signature. Some have a (c) and date on them as well, but we are getting away from that due to limitations from the juried art show circuit. Having the artist signature gives your artwork copyright protections and helps appraisers verify the authenticity. Investing in authentic original art is always a good thing and making sure the correct handwriting is on your artwork legitimizes its value.
