Summertime Fun!
This month I got to do a little en plein air painting on the beach!
Painting under such conditions is both a great way to pair painting swatches and adjust your colors, tones and saturations, but also a very messy process.
The coastal wind, intense sunshine, and misting sand all interfere. If you don't find a remote location or time curious beachgoers will also lure around to distract you.
I like to go to Padre Island National Seashore which is part of our National Park Service. The easiest access is from Corpus Christi's north padre territory. It is the longest undeveloped barrier island in the world. Malaquite Beach has easy water access and if you don't want to set up on the beach they have both dune level and elevated observation decks you can set your easel on.
